Dropped our 21 year old daughter off today at Glasgow Airport as she flies out to A wee town called Xuzhou, in-between Beijing and Shanghai, China.
Three days to get climatised then she starts work at Aston 2, teaching English as a foreign language to kids up to the age of 13.
Only daughter, and the house feels quieter already ! :o
She aint away 12 hours, and my wife and I are talking about her return
in October !

What an experience for her, brilliant.
Now you just need a project or 2 to fill the time in.

I'm sure with modern technology email/phone/webcams etc.. it'l seem like she's just round the corner in a few weeks :)
Quite a life experience tho, she'll get a lot out of that, wonderful country apparently!

I have three kids somewheres, (34, 30, & 27) all professional people. Couldn't wait to see the back of them, got really fed up being an ATM/Taxi driver etc. Once they were gone, I left too!! :D
Apparently, I have a grandaughter too!!
Bigmincey's got an "EMPTY"!
I'll get the MadDog, who's gonna bring the Buckie?
Seriously though, I'd image it'll be strange not having your daughter around, I think it may even harder for your other half as women have bonds beyond anything guys experience, especially mothers & daughters.

The paternal thing was really lost on me, once I saw them all through uni and subsequently earning good money, I returned to the things I held dear to me and enoyed them.
Unfortunately, my wife still preferred to be regarded as, and called 'mother', even by me for some reason, even though the kids were gone whereas I still saw her as the woman I married all those years ago. :(
Women do have a strong bond with their children that does not waver as they grow up, but mine was the exception, in that she wanted to remain 'mother' and not what I saw in her before. The result was divorce, but having said that, I have seen many marriages falter in latter years primarily due to the fact that husbands lose sight of the woman they married. :(
I know you miss your daughter badly Alan, but now you have more time to indulge the No.1 woman in your life... :worship: She'll be hurting too, so nows the time to spring that surprise holiday... ;)

The cars, culture, the nightlife is supposed to be everything that you could be looking for, whether its clubs, or music/jam clubs etc Live music is always a bit better.
Was looking at this place;

I don't suppose you will have heard of www.travelmood.com but I would go a fair way to recommend them.
I used them for flights direct from Glasgow to Aukland N.Z 2 years ago. I see they list Santa Clara Cuba as a flight destination and 9 night deal for £552 although this may be from London.
Worth a click.:D

Cheers Ken,
I think there is a flight from Glasgow, but its to the North of Cuba, not the Varadero side. Good website mate, will keep a note of that !!
Cheers,
Alan...........
