Park on level ground, pull the filter, get a big rag and wrap it around the base of the carb. You must have sufficient petrol level in the carb bowl before you set the mixture...
Remove the brass plug(s) from the sides of each float bowl located on the left side of the carb body as you look in at the carb from the front of the car.
Turn on ignition to run the fuel pump (electric? If not, you'll need to run the engine, so be very careful). Petrol should now trickle out of the holes where you removed the brass screws (I've no idea whether this model of carb has two or one float chambers, but the procedure is the same).
If no fuel is trickling, look atop the carb's float chamber, just above the holes, and you'll see another brass screw with a locknut. This is what adjusts the internal height of the float inside the chamber. Be careful here and be very aware that its the locknut that does the actual adjusting, and the screw is what locks it all down once your done. So loosen the screw a little, and turn the nut until fuel trickles out the side. Once thats done, lock it all down and refit the brass screws in the side.. Thats the float level sorted.
On each side of the carb, there should be a brass mixture screw. Turn off the pump (or shut down the motor) and unscrew them carefully, remove them and inspect the tips for damge and dirt. If they look ok, refit them and screw them in carefully until they stop, then back them off two full turns and thats the mixture set.
You now should have a correctly set carb, so get it all hot and set your idle speed... It all sounds complex, but this is very easy to do...
Cheers!
