Hi,
I'm Pete Sinclair from Broughty Ferry - directed here by Scotb. I've been involved in the scene for years on and off, and am into Morris Minors. I have a 1955 Series 2 with 3.9 Rover, and a 1950 MM series (owned since 1972) project with a chevy LS1 engine. I'm also into motorbikes (Hondas) for my sins.

I've now got engine lined up where I'd like it, and then cut off the old engine mounts on the chassis. I had a plasma disc shatter on me, and fortunately I was wearing goggles and gloves - still cut my finger through leather gloves - and was pretty painful.
Gearbox mount will be pretty easy - just need some plate and a few holes drilled. engine mounts will also be easy ish, but will need fabricated.

Not done anything for a couple of weeks to this Minor as I've just fitted a new dash and heater to my Blue minor.
At long last I have replaced the untidy dash on my Minor. I also took the opportunity to fit a heater!! out of an early mini pickup courtesy of spony. Reason for a heater - Linda gets cold despite the V8 heating the interior up (a bit). Got to admit, it did get cold on cooler days.
As all my gauges and switches were in the centre console, I had to move loads of wires, and the stereo.
My friend Reg is into woodworking, so he made the dash from ply, and stained it, then plenty coats of varnish. It certainly looks a lot neater.
I took car for a run after completing the work to test the heater, and all went fine. Engine was typically a bit spluterry (always is after lay up), but cleared after a bit. Heater works fine - not roasting hot (no thermostat), but takes the chill off.
I'm hopefully going to do the bodywork now - how many times have I said that.

I'm leaving the electrics till last - it will be a learning curve, but i thought LS1 was the way to go for a quick and hopefully economical (compared to other V8's) car. There are massive websites dedicated to this engine, so the information is out there. I've got the wiring loom, so in theory I have to get the ECU 'flashed', then connect about 5 wires and it will start - sounds easy ;)
I've not done much of late with the project (start of biking season), but I'll crack on soon.

Welcome aboard,
There's some amazing pictures in there, a lot of love and a lot of money too ;-)
I'm amazed we've never met before - I'm assuming that's you in the pictures up at Big Ian's place? Also, when drag racing Tess at Crail.
Did you go to Tess' leaving do before he headed off to Colorado?
Cheers,
Steve

Aha, just noticed page two and more pics - the right ones - I still don't recognise you though.
I assume you're a "lone-wolf" then or can you go back to the early-mid eighties and Tess, Dino/Donna, Billy, Cass etc?
The Dundee Street Freaks are still going today as are the Knightriders and Tayside American Cruisers etc - it's all go in Tayside!

It was myself and 2 others (Ralph Seifert and John Rodger) that started Dundee Street Freaks back in 1977 (over 30 years ago - scary).
In the 70's and 80's I attended everything, but as usual, family etc conspires to move things in a different direction. I still however have the same car - my MM series Minor.
I see some of the guys now and again (Dave Glen most recently when he was across for his Mum's funeral), but don't really attend as many events as I should (took up biking, which has kinda replaced cars in the good weather).
I have been going to Crail pretty frequently with my bike club (some really tidy modded bikes - www.thetwats.co.uk) over the years, and have lots of pics of this should anyone wish to view them ;). My best time on the bikes is 11.2 @130, but both bikes are capable of 10's (I'm getting old though, and lack of bottle off the line), although a couple of mates are in the mid 9's.
My Minor with It's 3.5 did a 15.1 @90, so the 3.9 may break into the 14's. I'm hoping for mid 12's with the LS1 though.

Oh, and by the way, I beat Dave (Tess) 2 out of 3 times - he won when my son was driving my Minor:)
