I've installed a new shoutbox today. Couple of things to note, firstly the shoutbox is on every page now, although it doesn't have to be, if anyone finds it too "in your face" we can take it off some layouts and limit it once again. It's on every page now as some people commented that sometimes you would miss shouts whilst navigating around the site.
Also you can minimise the shoutbox on all layouts using the double upward arrows in the title bar
Secondly if you click on someones name in the shoutbox you can now send a private instant message and start a private conversation with them through the shoutbox.
