Just had new front window installed today, couple of questions, see pics.

1. there is a small gap between window rubber and metal frame, does this gap need filling with sealant??, if so what kind of sealant??, or is it better left empty, so it drys out better when wet??

2. when I put silver trim back on, do I put some sealant between window and trim, to stop water incress??

cheers

Haven't got a clue Dave , never touched the windscreen on my own.

I have asked the same question on one of the USA corvette forums, there saying leave it empty, so water will drain away, but put some sealant between the trims and window, to prevent dirty getting in there, to help prevent rust longterm

Hello Dave,
I just joined the X-members tonight. I saw your question re; your Vette.
The small gaps are quite normal. The glass edges should not be touching any part of the bodywork. Water will normally pass under the outer trims and drain away. Provided whoever fitted your screen has 'bonded' it correctly you shouldn't have to seal your trims to the glass. I don't think rust should be an issue!:D (Glass fitter 13 years)

thanks for info mate, yeah autoglass did the job about 2 months ago, so iam hoping they have bonded it right!

ive have put some sealed between glass, and outer metal chrome trims to try and prevent dirt, etc geting in, dirt and water = rust.

do you have a vette?
