Hello everyone. I've been registered on here for ever, but, I seldom post (If ever). I think it's about time I stopped Lurking and came out of the closet. If any of you guys ever visit This rain sodden place, you are welcome to visit, our kettle is always on the go. I also have a reasonably equipped workshop in case you need help!!
Cheers!! Charlie!! :cool::cool::cool:

Hows things, we've got family in Uig, but you'll never see me up there in my car due to the 12 - 14 miles to the gallon it gets. ;)
What car do you have? I remember seeing a 32 coupe sitting in a layby the first time i visited.

Yep! That was my coupe. sold that a few years ago. We got a Chrysler powered Moggy (unfinished) a 36 Ford Pick-up (unfinished) an "A" roadster (unstarted) a 37 Hillman Minx V8 Rover ( on the road) ,possibly for sale! And a 59 Royal Enfield "Bullet" (unfinished). Who are your family in Uig??
You are still welcome, even without your "Bird"!!!

Want to take my car up to Lewis next year as I’ve got lots of family there and normally go up through Sky as it's such a beautiful Island (compared to Harris and Lewis which resemble the Moon, don’t get me wrong I love Lewis and would move there in a heart beat if I could earn a living) Will give you a shout nearer the time as it would be great to meet you and check out your rides.

Anytime Dave!! BTW. the Lewis car club have a set of electronic timing lights. They just spent £6.5K buying them from the states. You may be able to time it right for a bit of action!!
Keep in touch!! Charlie!!

Andy,
I hadn't seen that clip before. The only problem with Lewis, is, that they can only use the airstrip on Saturday evenings. There is also the added expense of the ferry!! There is a RUMOR that there are talks between the Lewis club and the Skye rally club to hold an event on Skye next year. The strip is much wider and longer and is more available. I will let you all know as soon as I hear anything, but, don't hold your breath. Things move a bit slower up here!!
Charlie!!
ps. I now feel as if I've cotributed something to the site at last!!

Hey Charlie, i've just aquired a scimitar chassis to use for a model A pickup project. Don't supose you've got a spare glass floor pan an wings laying around for your un-started A project?

truxdelux
02-12-09, 08:23 PM
No, Sorry mate, Gonna be cycle guards for me. There's a guy in north wales does one piece floorpans, but, I dont know if it will fit on the Scimitar chassis. You don't want to cut anything off the chassis till it's passed inspection. You should get away without inspection, but, they can ask to see it!!

Who is the guy in Wales, you got a company name or guys phone number?
For a re-body i would need to keep everything, but to take full fenders i will have to loose the suspension towers. Don't imagine a production chassis would struggle with the SVA, or the BIVA as it is now.

truxdelux

Kev,
I don't have the guy's name or no., but, I'll try to find it. Do you know Joe who runs Navarac caravans? Well, I gave him the address ages ago, but i don't think he bought anything from him, as Brian Daly is building his chassis at the moment.

Thanks Charlie.
Turns out the Scimitar spent twenty years in my home town, i remember seeing it when i was a kid and loved it, ironic then that i spent the day with a 9 inch grinder chopping it to bits. :D
Main chassis looks ok but the outriggers a shot, managed to pull the drivers seat belt off with my hands.

I`m not so sure about raining ALL the time:rolleyes: I am working between Invermoriston and The Kyle of Lochalsh and it`s been fine here recently. Been promising myself a trip to Skye in the near future for a spot of sight-seeing. Would be good to see a couple of decent custom cars. The closest thing I have seen yet is a jacked up Land Rover with 31in Mickey Thomsons:p

Hi Jimbo,
Things are OK. here. I can't remember how much was done when you were here, but, the chassis is all painted, and I have reassembled it. but, I've decided to have the box looked at, as it's the only thing that hasn't been done. No point scrimping at this stage. I'm halfway through the bodywork, but other (Paying) jobs keep getting in the way. Still, when I can get some time it shouldn't take too long. I'm still looking to get it on the road this season. I don't think we can make Blackford this year AGAIN. It falls at the wrong time. We WILL see you at some point!!

Cheers mate!! Charlie!!
