I've been wondering, would it be worth while setting up regional forums? By that i mean a forum for the Borders for the North East, Highlands etc

I'd like to help members in areas other than the central belt get in touch with each other. I'm not sure we have enough members at the moment but this may be a way to encourage more?

What do you think?

I think it's a good idea Andy, if you can be bothered with the extra work.
I would moderate a forum if you need to delegate any work :D

how many actual members are there ????
and how many use the forum ???
what about puting a link in other
hotrod /american car forums eg nsra, rods n sods, klaymores, etc,etc
I have told a few folk about the site

i have been out in the hut mucking about with my vinyl cutter
and cut some www.xmembers.co.uk stickers 5"x 1" for inside /outside
of car windows for any one who wants them just to advertise the site.

the vinyl is nearly the same colour as daves gto ( scrap vinyl i had )
cheers mark for loading the software & building the tower top man.:worship:

I think our forum is a bit too small to make any regional ones. Even on quite large websites, regional forums are a bit empty (perhaps except something like Pistonheads, but it's a huge community).

Overall, it's not a bad idea if X-Members becomes much bigger and as Andy said - we could advertise our forum a bit, just so more and more people in Scotland and North England would join us in local events and/or provide useful contacts when it comes to searching for cars or parts.

Members: 346
Active Members (ie. been on the site in the last 30 days): 100

Active members has been increasing slowly for a while. The site does have a link on some other sites but i've been hesitant about posting links on th NSRA and Rod's and Sods and the like as some webmasters kinda look dimly on folk poaching users. We do have a link on the Klaymores website tho (cheers Groove Champion :D) http://www.klaymore-kruisers.co.uk/links

Top work with the vinyl stickers BTW :D i looked into getting stickers made up some time ago with the site logo on it but couldn't find anywhere that would print them so you could stick them on the inside of the car.

The idea behind behind regional forums was really just to give the folk who aren't in the central belt a place to get in touch with each other, it is after all a Scotland wide forum but most of the activity on here seems to be central (not that there is anything wrong with that :)) There are a few members however who check in from further north who don't post much and i often wonder if they don't because they think all the members on here are central. I also think it might be interesting to see who crawls out of the woodwork in the various areas.

i'm not sure there's much demand for it, because i suppose that's half the function of the member clubs.

but, if you want to set it up, then i'll do my best to support it. :)

What about starting a couple of area threads for people from these areas to add their names and details to?
i.e., Lanarkshire thread, a highland thread, etc and anyone from these areas can post up: T-Bird Kev, Strathaven area, South Lanarkshire.
That way we would know who was in our area without Andy having to set anything else up.

TBH it's just as easy to start a new forum as it is to start a new thread :)

Okay we'll give it a try. If it doesn't work out we can always close them and move the threads to the 'General Discussion' forum.
