ok, maybe this is a little bit morose, but what songs will you have played at your funeral, and at what points.

to start, as everyone comes in and as they sit down, just as an introduction.

after the first round of prayers/thoughts, i want some little anecdotes, maybe some "he was very drunk" stories, then

after that, maybe some more b/s about how wonderful i was, then, when everyone's feeling all sad.

as the coffin is lowered into the ground/oven. (i want the coffin to start disapppearing at the first words).............

and, as everyone files out, after i've been burnt.

you may notice some irony in my selections !!

at some point or other, i would like this thrown in, purely because i know that every single damn person there will hate it !! (maybe kirsti can dig out the video of me playing it ??)

I was at a funeral last month....my mates dad. His funeral was a non religous service, plus everyone was told to wear bright colours. No black please. It was a massive turnout and there were people in kilts and all sorts. His 2 sons (my mate and his brother) were wearing long casual shorts, t-shirts and trainers!!
He was a massive Queen fan so there were 3 or 4 songs played throughout. No hymns or prayers at all. The wife and family had wrote a 20 minute speech on his life and the minister read that out instead. At the point where you'd normally pray or sing a hymn, they played his favourite song (Queen - You're My Best Friend), and we were asked to stand and think of a happy memory.

Thats how i want my funeral to be as I havent got a religous bone in my body. Now i just need to choose some cool songs

em..... don't rush me! This needs some serious thought

Spooky! I was at mates dad's funeral yesterday.

My dad's funeral a few years ago was a Humanist funeral also Boss, and people still now remark at how touching it was, iv'e lost count of the amount of times people have contacted me to get the name of the guy who performed the service, Jim Petherick.

As we carried Dad in we played 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond' by Pink Floyd. There was a running joke in our family that my Dad had with my friends about odd socks, so all the coffin bearers were wearing odd socks, i think i had one white and one black lol!

At the end we all filed oit of the crem listening to 'Always look on the Bright Side of Life' by Monty Python which my Dad always said he wanted, and is very popular in Humanist cirlces at funerals apparently.

Anyway, i think i want to be carried in to this...

Attended a young lads funeral a few years back, the storeman in our work and it was the best funeral I have ever been too.

Could have worded that better probably, but you know what I mean ?

Ross was 21, died while choking on his vommit after a heavy night out on the lash. He had a fantastic taste in music for a young lad, way before his time.

As the Church filled it up it was The Doors, Zep, Marillion, Sabbath etc
Songs were picked by his best friend I believe.
Service ended with Wish You Were Here, Floyd, and the coffin left with the tune of Irish Heartbeat, a Van Morrison song, but they had chosen the Billy Connolly version.

Very sad day as he was a yung`un.
No Vid for this, sorry.
