I've been on and posted some pics from the KFC a couple of days ago but I made a bit of a mess of it. Thought I did all the right things but the pics did not end up where I tried to put them (they are in no mans land below the 'category' listings :o ), plus some of them are in twice and some pics of my zody ended up there too  :o  :o  :o
Don't know where I went wrong.....just dumb I guess :D ..........never mind !!!

Hi Dave,
Fellow Corvette owner here! There's two that i know of in Glenrothes, myself and a guy called Terry have a '77 and '76 respectively. There is also another Dave from the Ill-Eagles club in Edinburgh who has a silver '76 vette, two guys from Dundee called Grant and Ken that have 'vettes and exitwound on this forum has a c4 'vette. There's a few more around too. We're a pretty friendly bunch, and there's plenty on in the summer months to do with your car - keep an eye on the events calendar. How long have you had your 'vette? What needs doing to it? Where you getting your parts? What colour is it? Got any photos?
Andy.

hi Andy, Ive had my vette for 6 months now, its red in colour, needs a full respray tho, you know any good places for resprays??, needs lots doing like the inside carpets need doing, well there's none there!, various eletrical issues, heater wont work, etc
Ive fixed all the stuff to pass a mot and other stuff like
changed lights for uk spec
handbrake adjusted
new seals in brake calipers done
new alternator
new leads and plugs,
new dizzy
new intake manifold(edenbrock airgap, just fits underneath hood)
new carb (750cfm vac sec holley)
new battery
new steering stuff, like new ram and valve and piping
new pop lights actlators
new heater relay
new air dam
new speedo cable
new auto kickdown cable
new light switch
new lt1 drop airbase
new wiper motor and washer container and pump
new vac canister
new idler arm
new window motor
new full weather seal kit(still leaks!! lol)
steering column was sent away, new bearings, horn, various switchs, etc
new th350 auto box, and bits for that
various nuts/bolts/screws,trans oil/engine oil, etc
and theres still lots to do!!, that lot came to a small fortune!
I changed the engine oil, and know it produces blue smoke, but it didnt do it before the oil change!, i used the correct oil for the car, maybe i need some thicker oil.
I tryed lots of stuff to fix one problem, which the car always backfires up through the top of the carb, on hard acceration, tryed everything to stop it, but no luck, so ive decided to buy a new crate engine from the US, i was going go for a 500bhp stroker 383, which can be had for a reasonable price.
Ive been buying parts from corvette kingdom and other bits from Zip in the US, where are you getting your parts from from?
what have you done to your vette?, how long u had it? what still needs doing?

Hi Dave,
Cool pics mate ! You have been busy !;)
I used Claremont Corvette for bits for my C4, but always phone around 1st, coz its amazing how the price can vary from dealer to dealer !
Dont rule out good old Ebay.com, as the price of parts, plus shipping sometimes outweigh the cost over here. A lot of the stuff advertised are on-line shops, so you are quite safe !
I have just had delivered from Salt Lake City a pair of clear headlight covers, brand new for my 4th gen Camaro for £31.00 !! $30.00 for the covers and $28.00 for shipping. Was getting quoted £58.00 here and a 2 week wait, these came in 4 days !!
Any ways, welcome to the forum, and enjoy !!
Alan.

Dave,
Pictures look good! Had my Corvette for about 7 years now, was the first car i bought!!! I've been relatively lucky over the time in that it's needed little doing to it, although it's fast approaching an engine re-build (lots of small oil leaks) and i want to start restoring it, so a chassis refurb has been on the cards since i got it. I didn't put it on the road this year due to my finances being in a bit of a state and the handbrake needs another re-build (rebuilt aout 4 years ago and not quite right) as it's making a noise from the back end which i've been told is the handbrake shoes. The big thing i have done to it is put Hooker Sidemount headers/side tubes on it, which i've always loved but are a pain to polish, and cause the dreaded hot start problems:( I recently cured this (i think) by rewiring the starter circuit in a different manner with a 30A relay although it needs tidying up which needs it up on a ramp, which i don't have access to. I've done a few odds and ends here and there too like a new starter motor when i first got it. Generally i get parts from Ecklers although i have used Claremont Corvette and Dart Corvette, all friendly and helpfull. All being well i should be MOTd/fixed and on the road for next year so i should see you out and about ( the Dunfermeline KFC cruise is a nice monthly meet).
One question! When you replaced the seals in the calipers were the piston sheaths chrome or stainless steel?
There is a place in Leven that did a good job respraying Terry's corvette. And yes mine leaks in the rain too!! lol

Guys,
I've purposely had a year off this year as I'd lost a wee bit of enthusiam for a while and (boring/domestic) commitments meant that I seemed not to have the time or inclination to do much about it. I only had the '55 on the road for 5 weeks this year even though it's taxed and tested - that's pretty poor!
I've not completely ignored the car nor have I lost interest in it; I've just not been out to many things with it this season.
I've been planning /scheming over a few changes which have, in themselves, been changed as a result of my buying a new "daily" toy. If anyone's curious then you can see what I'm up to on:

Andy, as an aside it may help to leave little website flyers again at the Tayside American Cruisers Christmas disco next Saturday if they're fine with that?
Cheers,
Steve

Just read through your journal, top quality mate !http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j274/bigmincey/Smileys/respekt.gif
The yellow and white would look really cool and suit the car !
Any change of wheels planned ?
Mind and take loads of pics, good luck,

Boyd: Thanks pal, see you on Saturday night!
Alan: Thanks again, if you check back on my blog it will continually be updated as things progress. Hopefully, it'll be getting started very shortly. I've been away speaking to media blasters, chemical dippers, platers, chromers, powder coaters looking at colours, prices etc.
I had a brief flirtation with another colour scheme but it was more classic than custom - I think the yellow is the way to go.
Cheers,
Steve
